This area is intended to promote the professional development of all individuals involved in juvenile sex offender management in the region. To accomplish this, a comprehensive training curriculum has been developed. Self-training modules allow individuals to participate in training at their own pace. Registration and post-training quizzes allow participants to receive credit for their training and to access training outcomes.
The 11 training sessions comprising the curriculum provide comprehensive information about juvenile sex offenders. The curriculum is developmentally designed with the intention that users will progress through the entire curriculum in a sequential manner. Training 1 frames the issue of juvenile sex offending from a legislative perspective, allowing users to gain increased knowledge about legal changes and their impact on the issue. Trainings 2 – 5 are introductory trainings intended to provide foundational knowledge to most users while re-familiarizing others with general issues related to juvenile sex offending. Trainings 6 – 11 are specialized trainings, specifically focusing on forensic investigation, secondary trauma and best practices in the various areas of juvenile sex offender management.
The training curriculum is available free of charge to all interested users and is designed for individuals working at all levels within the juvenile justice system (e.g., Court, CMO’s, private agencies), all providers of direct services (e.g., treatment, assessment, detention, law enforcement), and all individuals wishing to learn more about this important topic.
