The Comprehensive Juvenile Sex Offender Management Initiative is dedicated to transforming the Wayne County, Michigan juvenile justice system by developing and instituting the most effective and comprehensive system of juvenile sex offender management. A collaborative team of the region’s leaders and stakeholders worked to systematically evaluate the juvenile sex offender management system, compare the findings against current research and best practice literature, and develop and implement strategies to address the primary needs of the system. The Implementation Plan is the result of this work.
To examine the current county-wide system of juvenile sex offender management including an identification of specific strengths and needs, to compare the assessment results against best practice research, and to formulate strategies for system improvement.
The primary objective of the CJSOM Project is to develop a collaborative team of stakeholders to assist in the assessment, prioritization, and implementation of the identified strategies.
Wayne County will be viewed as the model system for comprehensive and effective juvenile sex offender management throughout the state and the nation.
